MooGoo Q&A With Lauren Patterson

Lauren Patterson is a mother, blogger, fitness competitor and PT Student.   She shares the highs and lows of her life open and honestly, via her blog and Instagram.  She's as refreshingly real as our MooGoo Herd (and our skin care ingredients!).  We caught up with Lauren recently;

Your determination, hard work, and honesty are an inspiration to your followers!  What motivates you?

My kids are my motivation for everything. Before I was a mother, I had no drive or determination to achieve anything but now I am unstoppable. They’re the reason I got healthy and changed my life, so now my goal is to help others do the same. Madi and Max deserve an incredible life and by working hard and maintaining a healthy work/life balance, I can make sure that I give that to them. I wish I had this work ethic years ago!

We know nutrition is an important part of your fit & healthy lifestyle – how much attention do you pay to labels and ingredients when you’re in the supermarket?  Is there one particular ingredient that you avoid at all costs?

I am one of those people who reads the labels of EVERYTHING in the supermarket (unless it’s Friday afternoon and it’s my cheat session – then I eat whatever I want and have a YOLO mentality). I generally stick to buying fruits, veggies, and meat and then avoid the centre aisles at all costs.

The only other ingredient that I try to avoid at all costs is sugar. Plain and simple. It is in bloody everything these days so I try to keep the levels incredibly low or not in there at all.

Having such awareness of what goes into your body, we imagine what goes onto your body is pretty important to you as well.  What’s your philosophy regarding skin care, hair care and make up?

To be honest, I am the last person to come to for skin and hair advice. I use the simplest products that don’t require too much process and when it comes to makeup, I keep it natural purely because if I didn’t need to wear it, I wouldn’t. I only wear it to cover up some spots that might be lurking around on my face (which is ALL the time lately!).

I believe in LOTS of water, taking your makeup off when you get home and have no intention of going out again and when it comes to my hair, I only get time to wash it maybe twice a week at the most so the less styling, the better! #hailtothemumbun

MooGoo and Lauren Patterson

We know you use MooGoo products – can you tell us how you like them and where they fit into your skin care and make up routine?

I’ve used MooGoo for many years now as I was put onto the products when Madi developed a skin allergy when she was a baby. I fell in love with them as they were completely natural and didn’t irritate baby skin at all. It’s nice knowing that you’re doing the best for your bubba when the products you use on them won’t cause them any pain or tears!

I’m a huge fan of the Protein Shot Leave In Conditioner and MooGoo Moisturiser for myself, and the kids use nearly every product they have! Haha. Madi and Max use the Milk Shampoo, Cream Conditioner, Mini Moo Bubbly Wash, Soothing MSM Cream… yep I think that’s all of them. I wouldn’t trust any other brand – and I haven’t used any other brand since Madi and that was going back 3 ½ years ago now!

Are there any products you just can’t leave home without?

I like to carry SPF around with the kids and I just in case. We’re always out and about so it’s handy to have on us if we head to the park or are out in the sun for a while!

I also use lip balm on a constant basis as my lips are drier than the outback desert.

What’s the achievement you’re most proud of?

The fact that I birthed 2 amazing kids. How I’ve managed to keep them alive all these years is absolutely beyond me, but somehow I’ve done it. Also the fact that they’re bloody awesome kids is even better.

Plus finishing school & getting my first certificate that says that I’ve done something successfully. I’m going to frame it and put it on my wall for everyone to see.

What’s next for you?

This list is endless! I am the type of person who has one million ideas and wants to do all of them at once but I’m learning to slow that down. I’ll be focusing on my fitness business and setting up boot camps around Brisbane, online programming and continuing my studies in the fitness industry! I want to be able to offer my clients the best knowledge so doing a few more courses will assist me when it comes to that!

Oh, and training to be a ninja. I really want to be on that TV show.
