Baby 3 Step Skincare Routine
When we think of baby skin, we think of incredibly soft, plump, smooth skin. But that’s not always the case, baby skin is more often than not very sensitive and easily irritated, leading to bumps, rashes, dryness and discolouration. When our own little ones came along we wanted to know exactly what we were putting on their skin, and the MooGoo Baby & Child range was born. We made fuss-free skincare for the fussiest customer (babies!), that gives parents peace of mind. So, say rock-a-BYE to irritated skin and hello to these 3 easy steps to make your babies’ skin happy, healthy and protected.
Step 1 - Wash
First, grab Spotify, run the bath and plonk your little bubble-07 in because it's about to get clean up in here. We’ve got the facts and word just in: Babies need bubbles. Babies need bubbles as much as they need clean, healthy and happy skin. What they don’t need though is harmful and stripping ingredients like SLS and SLES (they’re not keen on those). A lot of commercial baby washes or baby soaps are made with these and can strip the skin of its natural oils, leaving it high and dry - so watch out for those.
Our 2-in-1 Bubbly Wash is made with small amounts of 5 different natural cleansers that are milder on the skin than one concentrated cleanser alone. For some very helpful tips on bath time fun, check out our blog ‘Bath Time Tips for a Happy Suddy Bubby’. Moving onto the hair, who would have thought that such little hair could get so dirty? Our 2-in-1 Bubbly Wash can be used as a shampoo as well but if you want something a little more cleansing but just as gentle (designed specifically for hair) we suggest our no-tear Gentle Shampoo. It’s made with Milk Protein to keep baby strands smooth and healthy, perfect for untangling mashed banana.
Step 2 - Protect
Skin that’s as soft as a baby’s bottom is as sensitive as one too and all parents know, the nappy area is one of the crankiest patches of them all. The culprit? Nappy Rash. Nappy Rash can be caused by several things: Infrequent nappy changes, new foods, antibiotics, prolonged wetness or simply excessive friction. It’s incredibly common and even the best parents in the world struggle with it! It’s important to address the cause and not just the symptom.
So, we’ve added hard-working, soothing and anti-fungal ingredients to our Nappy Balm. Zinc, Chamomile, Calendula and Allantoin calm the skin while nourishing oils (Jojoba, Sunflower, Evening Primrose & Olive) comfort dryness. Piroctone Olamine helps tackle yeast-related irritation while Shea Butter helps to lock moisture into the skin. After your bub is all clean and smelling divine, slip some protection and prevention Nappy Balm all over their little button, like icing on a cupcake.
Step 3 - Moisturise
The last step is moisturising! Once your baby is dry, lather a lightweight moisturiser all over their little faces and squishy limbs (obviously avoiding the eyes). We recommend our all natural Soothing Nut-Oil Free Moisturiser. It’s made with Olive Squalane, Allantoin, Aloe Vera and Honey, and absolutely nut-thing nasty (see what we did there,) so it’ll blend in like an absolute dream. We added in as much MSM as we could possibly fit in, and packed it with a whole team of heavy-lifting skin healing ingredients to soothe and calm (only their skin though sorry!).
And if your Mini Moo has a bad case of the wriggles? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered there too! Our Baby Fast-Absorbing Lotion is packed with natural skin-loving oils like Sweet Almond and Olive Squalene, plus skin-soothing saviours like Aloe Vera and Honey. We couldn’t forget the importance of supporting a delicate skin barrier, so we went the extra mile and added Ceramides to this nourishing formula. This lightweight lotion rubs in quickly and easily, perfect for when your little one is on the MOO-ve!
The best way to apply our favourite baby moisturisers is with a baby massage. A baby massage is a beautiful bonding moment where you can express your love and care while soothing and preparing them for sleep. It’s important not to do this while your babies’ skin is damp as moisture can get stuck in all those (adorable) little folds made up of thin, irritable skin that are prone to rashes.
Step 4 – Bedtime
Onesie that baby up, cuddle, bedtime story and they’re ready for bed. Good luck and Good Night!
