Our Buttermilk Cleansing Bar is a nourishing, natural soap for dry skin, made using fresh milk (never powdered). Buttermilk has long been used in skincare for its moisturising and skin-softening properties, making it especially helpful for those dealing with dryness caused by sun exposure, air-conditioning or everyday environmental stress.

It's also superfatted with Cocoa Butter and Olive Oil to help lock in moisture, so skin feels clean, soft and comfortably hydrated after every wash, never stripped or squeaky.

This makes it a great everyday natural soap bar for people dealing with dry skin conditions, sensitivity or general skin irritation.

Tip: Each bar is a generous 130g, so it lasts a long time. If you have smaller hands or are using it for kids, you can easily cut it in half for easier handling.

Lather in your hands or straight onto wet skin, then rinse. Gentle enough for face and body, every day.

Because we make our products for our families, we have a strict ingredient philosophy that excludes ingredients like Parabens, Phenoxyethanol and penetration enhancers.

Are your Cleansers made of Milk?

We aren’t called MooGoo because our cleansers are made of milk. No cleansers or moisturisers are made of milk, or in fact, have any meaningful amount of milk in them at all. Despite what labels may claim. If you think about it, putting milk in a moisturiser and then sitting it on the shelf for a year or so would make it very smelly! The only exception to this is Cleansing Bars, which go through a saponification process to make them stable.   We do also use Milk Protein in some of our products, like in our bestselling Milk Wash,  because the protein helps with skin elasticity. Milk Protein doesn’t go rancid, it is the fats and sugars in milk that go sour.

I’m Lactose intolerant. Are MooGoo products safe for me to use?

Almost all of our products do not contain milk, except for our Fresh Milk Cleansing Bars so it may be best to avoid these. Instead, we recommend using our Ultra Gentle Cleanser With Ceramides as it contains no milk or Milk Protein.

If you have an allergy to Milk Protein (rather than Lactose) you may want to choose creams without Milk Protein. They include the Sensitive Skin Balm, Soothing MSM Moisturiser and Scalp Cream

'Fragrance' is listed as one of the ingredients in this product. What does this mean?

When we first started making products, we used a blend of essentials oils to give them a lovely fragrance. But many people have severe reactions and allergies to them, even in small amounts. As a result, and because we make products for people with sensitive skin, we took them out of most products. Instead, we helped to develop a special kind of fragrant oil, whereby each component in it is less than the EU allergy threshold. This is how we can have a pleasant-smelling product without the reactions. The scents we use are proprietary blends from the company we get them from, and we’ve had no reactions since we made the switch. Also, of course, it is free from phthalates, which is the main concern in fragrances.

Why do the boxes have holes in them? As the soaps are constantly exposed to the air, how do we know when they've reached their 3-month expiry?

The hole in the box allows air to circulate around the soap to ensure it doesn’t start sweating and gathering condensation which can happen to natural soaps in warmer temperatures.

The process in which soaps is made is what keeps it free from bacteria so plastic, airtight packaging is not required. The hole in the box also allows you to smell our wonderful soaps before making a purchase or taking them out of the packaging! The 3-month expiry date is from when you start using the soap itself.
