Make Your Own MooGoo Moisturiser

Making MooGoo isn't as complicated as you might think!  In fact, with a few ingredients from your kitchen and a couple of purchases, you could probably make your own - given the time and inclination of course. Our resident MooGoo experts, Sammy & Gabby show us how!

They've made a short video for you below - or for those of you who prefer a recipe, instructions are written below.

Happy 'Cooking'!

Make Your Own MooGoo Moisturiser Recipe

Ingredients / Tools

Hand-held electric mixer

Oil - (Olive, Rice Bran and Coconut Oil are all good choices)

Emulsifying Wax (a quick search online and you'll find it available for purchase from various online outlets)

Big mixing bowl

How To

Pour 1/2 a cup of your chosen oil into a bowl. Add a small amount of a plant-based emulsifying wax, together with 1/4 - 1/2 cup of water. Mix it up! The cream will turn white, but will still be a little runny. You can add other ingredients if you like, including essential oils, other moisturising oils etc. This is how MooGoo first started - in our founder's kitchen, testing on friends and family and playing with the ingredients! When you're done with your experiment, pop it in the fridge for 4+ hours to set.

Important To Note

At MooGoo we've created our own preservative system from Hops Extract that's in line with our ingredient philosophy. Lots of commercial creams use synthetic preservatives like Parabens and formaldehyde donors. Without a preservative, your cream will develop bacteria in a few days (you've essentially made some food!). Please be super careful with your homemade cream and use within a few days of making it (bacteria and skin aren't a good mix!).

Now it's your turn! We'd love to hear how you go, if you decide to give it a go!  What oils did you use, and how did it turn out?
