Even When You're Sleeping
Many of us don’t actually know that we can de-zombify our skin at night-time. While it is tempting to bury ourselves in our doonas at the end of a long day, spending an extra couple of minutes on our skin at night can make the world of difference. We would like to introduce to you, our Night Cream! This cream is a rich, restorative moisturiser which rejuvenates your skin even when you're sleeping. The formula works with the body’s overnight recovery process. Due to increased blood flow, the skin is best able to absorb topical products during sleep. Additionally, the Night Cream helps replenish the hydration that skin loses throughout the day. Like many things in life, it works best in a team (that's not a personal attack on introverts!)
The Night Cream can feel a little tingly, for our sensitive members of the Herd especially, because of the Lactic Acid we’ve included. It's an AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) working on the glue that is binding dead skin cells to your face. Why do we use it? Because we like results like this from Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology (so not like someone made it up for the brochure). “Treatment with 12% lactic acid resulted in increased epidermal and dermal firmness and thickness and clinical improvement in skin smoothness and in the appearance of lines and wrinkles. The results demonstrate that cosmetic benefits from the use of Alpha-Hydroxy Acids are caused by modification of the skin surface, the epidermis and the dermis. Although 5% Lactic Acid modulates surface and epidermal changes, 12% Lactic Acid influences both the epidermis and the dermis.” Note that we use 2% as we found 12% a little too harsh even though we have soothing ingredients in it too. Similarly, we use Salicylic Acid in our Gentle Exfoliating Powder, which is a BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) and it also works to munch away at all of the dead skin cells on the surface of the skin (like tiny little pac men).
If your skin is super sensitive you can mix one part Night Cream with up to three parts Skin Milk / Soothing MSM or Full Cream Moisturiser and apply to cleansed skin at night. Once your skin is acclimated, you may slowly increase the amount of Night Cream used.
3 easy steps to maximise the skin's night-time repair mode:
Gentle Exfoliating Powder; Gently buffs away dead skin cells, smooths skin's surface, reducing fine lines and clogging.
Oil Cleanser; Deeper cleansing, removes stubborn makeup and mascara and breaks down dirt and oil that can clog pores.
Night Cream; Refines and resurfaces, intensely moisturises and hydrates skin, smooths and softens fine lines and improves skin texture.
Sweet dreams... and remember the longer you sleep the longer the products are working!
